Jessica Castillo, 31

Project manager, Giroux Glass, Las Vegas

With 13 years under her belt in the glass industry, Castillo understands the importance of focusing on basic skills such as staying organized and maintaining good communication. “I’ve learned a lot more about communication skills since I started. It’s important to not procrastinate on calling your subcontractor, your vendor, whoever it might be, with the information you’ve collected. As far as organizational skills, you not only need to have them, but you need to continue to perfect them as you go.”

She also notes that success in contract glazing comes with being able to change with the times to meet customers’ needs. “What I like about Giroux Glass is the willingness to look at new designs and the fact that we’re always saying, ‘What can we do to take things a step farther?’”

Castillo started in the glass industry right out of high school, working her way up through the ranks as an office manager and sales territory manager before landing her current position as project manager. “I bounced around from glass shop to glass shop. I was so interested in it and I thought it was exciting so I stuck with it.”
