Jeff Damisse, 24

Assistant project manager, Trainor Glass Co., Riviera Beach, Fla.

To improve quality control and keep his clients well informed, Damisse has incorporated his personal talents in video production and graphic design into his job. Videos are better than still photos to document quality problems, and graphic design can help a customer visualize a project better than stock photos, he contends. “Somebody once told me that communication is kind of like the oil of a car. If there’s not enough, things will either not work at all or not work properly. If you have too much, you’re basically flooding the whole system and the system won’t know what to do. You’ve got to have the right kind of communication.”

Damisse doesn’t view his relatively young age as a disadvantage against older peers because every job brings new challenges and new opportunities to learn. “No matter how many years of experience you have, there’s always something new to learn with every project. I think that’s the advantage I have in being so young. Even if I had 50 years of experience, whatever new project you’re working on, you’re still learning. That’s what the glass industry is really about.”
