Keith Daubmann, 31

President, K.D.D. Inc. dba Mr. Shower Door Florida, Naples, Fla.

Because his parents were the first Mr. Shower Door franchise owners in the 1980s, Daubmann knew what to expect when he and his brother opened their own business. His experience helps him excel in business strategy, but he credits his team with taking his business to the next level. “Our success is because of our entire team. Without my sales guys or my installers, we could conduct a very strong and profitable business, but not to the level that we have with our employees.”

Daubmann says his years in the shower door industry have helped him refine his skills, particularly in the arena of purchasing. “Buying properly by far has elevated our margins and cash flows so that we’re able to diversify and do other things. That has been our number one success by far.”

As teenagers, Daubmann and his brother helped with the business his parents ran before they retired, doing everything from loading glass trucks to lending a helping hand to working on installation crews. “When we got older and more trustworthy, we got even more involved. We started going out to deal with customers and learning different aspects of the business,” Daubmann says. “My brother and I have been involved our entire lives, not necessarily on the payroll but always around it.”
