BEMA standard goes to ASTM for adoption
Topeka, Kan.-based Bath Enclosure Manufacturers Association's proposed voluntary standard for the manufacture and installation of bath enclosures was submitted this past week to ASTM Subcommittee C14.08 on Flat Glass for adoption.
Ron Biberdorf, marketing manager for Craftsman Fabricated Glass, Houston, and member of BEMA’s Standards Committee, shared the news during the association’s annual membership meeting, which took place Oct. 7 in conjunction with GlassBuild America at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Biberdorf said the standard is being sent to members for comment, following ASTM consensus procedures.
The American Society for Testing and Materials is in West Conshohocken, Pa.
BEMA President Mark Rowlett, national sales manager/residential for Coastal Industries, Jacksonville, Fla., presented the annual Design Awards. Travis Humphreys, owner and president of A&T Glass & Window Corp., Palm City, Fla., won in the Under 3/8-inch category; Bruce Downs, president, CB Showers Inc. of San Carlos, Calif., was a repeat winner in the Over 3/8-inch division. BEMA’s 2009 annual membership meeting will be during GlassBuild America, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The association has scheduled a CEO roundtable meeting Nov. 5-6 in Orlando, Fla.
