For Richard Poirier, the glazing business is the family business. “My father was a glazier, and he taught me the trade,” he says. Poirier started his career in 1983, joining Alumiglass in 1989 as a glazier before quickly advancing to foreman. He current serves as lead foreman responsible for managing personnel on the job site, assigning and directing work, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, verifying that proper installation procedures are being followed, and reporting field progress to project managers.
Poirier says the key to success in the glass industry is being “willing to learn every day, as new technology evolves all the time.”
