Best production supervisor
Waylon McCall’s stepping stone into the glass industry: the financial business. “I got bored being a financial analyst,” he says. “A friend asked if I wanted to help turn a glass plant around, and I said yes. I’m always looking for a new challenge.” McCall currently serves as branch manager for Aldora Architectural Aluminum and Glass Products, which formed in May 2011 when a group of glass industry investors bought the assets of Mirrorcrafters Custom Beveling. The company was relocated to Miramar, Fla., and consolidated with SMI Aluminum Systems. At Aldora, McCall is responsible for all fabrication, manufacturing, and distribution for the company and its satellite location.
“I am honored to have won this award, but I feel my great company and our great employees really deserve the recognition,” he says.
For McCall, the key to success in the glass industry is “hard work, determination and a caring attitude.”
What is a memorable challenging job/project you have completed? Most recently, it was moving our plant from one location to another. The challenge was the time constraints we had on completing the move. Through extreme coordination and Aldora employee teamwork we completed the move and started business in our new plant immediately, with no lost production time.
