Custom curtainwall at College of DuPage

The basics: A custom curtainwall highlights the Technical Education Center at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill. The 182,000-square-foot, $40 million, three-story building contains the architecture, interior design, ornamental horticulture, automotive technology, computer-aided design, construction management, electro-mechanical technology, electronics-integrated engineering technology, HVAC-R, manufacturing technology and welding technology programs. Concrete panels surround the lab spaces that require minimal light, while the glazing systems provide natural daylighting to classrooms and offices. The building is designed to achieve certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
