Great Glazing: Basketball City on Pier 36
The basics: The $12.5 million Basketball City location on Pier 36 on the Lower East Side in Manhattan features curved walls of blue channel glass. The 70,000-square-foot renovated storage warehouse on the East River opened this month and is home to seven basketball courts, locker rooms, an event space and offices, according to an article from DNAinfo.com.
The glass and systems: 1,220 square feet of channel glass in multiple double glazed curved openings on the exterior and interior. Bendheim's Clarissimo textureless clear glass, with Azur coating on all channels. Many planks are SGCC-certified tempered, and some are 100 percent heat soak tested. The frame is SF60 Store Front System that incorporates a thermally broken one-piece head and two-piece sill/sub-sill design.
