GreatGlazing: Starquest Securities office
The basics: The remodel of the Starquest Securities office in Minneapolis included the installation of a custom interior art wall, and a custom elliptical glass stairwell. The glass wall spans three stories—the 38th through 40th floor—at the center stairwell opening. For the custom elliptical stairwell, the glass is adhered to clips that hang the glass onto rolled steel stringers, so no exposed connections are visible through the white frit on the glass.
The players: Architect, HGA Inc.; construction manager, RJM Construction; tempered glass fabricator, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope; curved glass fabricator, Cristacurva; art glass supplier, Architectural Glass Art; contract glazier, AMG Architectural Glass and Glazing.
The glass and systems: The wall is a Borrowed Lites system with 3,500 square feet of ½-inch clear, tempered glass. The custom art glass wall features 980 square feet of 5/8-inch-thick
glass. The stairwell features 1,160 square feet of ½-inch curved, tempered, low-iron parallelogram, with 1224/1576 double ceramic frit finish.
