Great Glazing: University of Arkansas at Little Rock residence hall

The basics: The West Hall dormitory at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was designed for efficiency and sustainability. The project, which received Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, features highly energy-efficient, insulating windows, and an HVAC and lighting system designed to maximize energy performance, according to a UALR release.

The players: Architect, Witsell Evans & Rasco; general contractor, Baldwin and Shell Construction; glazing contractor, ACE Glass Co.; glass supplier, Guardian Industries; glazing system supplier, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (Vistawall).

The glass and systems: 403 windows and curtain wall. The glass consists of Tristar – Guardian Sunglass – Super Neutral 54. The glazing systems, all aluminum, are: Vistawall CW-250 Screwspline; Vistawall FG 300 SSG series; Vistawall Rugged Stile Doors (exterior); Vistawall Medium Stile Doors (interior).
