    The three push-in retainers on the leading edge of the cowl panel on this vehicle bite very aggressively and may break if care is not taken. From the underside of the retainer, push up on the black center portion while simultaneously prying up with a tack puller on the top of the retainer. Make sure to apply even pressure to release the retainer.

    The back glass edge on this vehicle is entirely exposed. The top and sides appear to be far enough away from the wall of the pinchweld to allow for cutout using a cold knife, but the bottom is very tight.

    All sides of the back glass are exposed, with an underside PAAS-like molding on the bottom only that will come attached to the new glass. If you scratch the vehicle body during cutout, outside of the bonding area, take care not to prime where it will be visible. It might be necessary to use touch-up paint instead of pinchweld primer.

    The windshield is rather large for a small vehicle and may require two technicians or a single-set tool. The hood requires the ignition key to open. There are two back glasses on the Transit and two options. The options both include a wiper; the second option has a wiper without a defroster.

    The windshield on this vehicle is fairly easy to cut out. The exposed edges are far enough away from the body that any tool can be used, but tape up the exposed painted panels to protect against possible damage. When installing the back glass, make sure there is no urethane residue on the pinchweld walls, or the moldings will not fit correctly.
