Viracon’s exit strategy
Viracon, the Owatonna, Minn., fabricator of aftermarket foreign and domestic windshields, officially left the automotive replacement glass market in mid-February, said Christine Shaffer, marketing manager for Viracon, in a March 5 interview. “With the decision to exit the ARG market, Viracon will continue to service the RV [recreational vehicle] and bus market while expanding our capacities for the architectural glass market,” Shaffer reported. “At this time, equipment to produce automotive glass has been removed from the facility, and we are in the process of moving in new equipment to service the architectural glass market, scheduled to be in place in May.”
