AGC Flat Glass lays off workers
A struggling economy has left more than 30 workers at a local plant without a job.
AGC Flat Glass North America Inc. announced the layoffs last week due to a weak economy and lack of demand in North America and across the globe.
“Glass demand has been down and continues to remain weak,” said Christopher Correnti, a spokesman for the Alpharetta, Ga.-based company. “As a result of that we had to do some temporarily layoffs at the plant.”
Thirty-six people were laid off in Spring Hill. AGC Flat Glass has announced layoffs periodically in other locations with more than 200 people, according to an April 8 report In The Miami County Republic.
