BISEM retrofits curtain wall with BIPV system

BISEM Inc. recently retrofitted a curtain wall at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District’s customer service center with a building integrated photovoltaic system, marking the first-ever BIPV curtain-wall retrofit project in the nation, according to an August 27 report in the Sacramento Business Journal.

The 392-square-foot solar wall will provide all of the power needed to cool a technology demonstration area — and it will serve as a working model for any medium or large commercial building retrofit, according to the article.
