DuPont sales soar across the board

The DuPont Co., the Wilmington-based chemical giant, trumped analysts' expectations Tuesday [July 27], posting second-quarter profits that nearly tripled earnings for the same period a year ago.

The firm reported higher sales across all of its business segments, and in all the regions where it does business around the world, pointing to a strengthening economic recovery. Company officials did say they expected year-to-year results to be slightly less robust for the rest of the year because of stronger second-half numbers in 2009, according to a July 28 DelawareOnline report.
