Glass Box Suspends Visitors over the French Alps
Suspended more than 1,000 meters off the valley floor of the French Alps, “Pas dans le Vide,” translated "Step into the Void," is a transparent glass cube that simulates the sensation of stepping off the mountain cliff, giving daredevils an unparalleled panoramic view of their snowy surroundings, according to a Yahoo! News report. Located atop the Aiguille du Midi, in the Mont Blanc Massif range of the Alps, the structure took three years to build and is comprised of three layers of tempered glass. The box can withstand winds of more than 220 kilometers per hour. 'Step into the Void' opened to the public on Dec. 21, 2013, according to the report.
