Belarus’ Construction Ministry reported that the development of the domestic glass industry is a priority, with modernization of the construction materials industry to take place this year and in 2009, according to the Belta news agency Aug. 26.
 
Georgia exported 4 tons of glass mirrors worth $69,000 in 2007. Georgia imported 19,881 tons of “float glass and surface ground or polished glass, in sheets” worth $8.61 million last year, as well as 1,184 tons of safety glass worth $4.11 million. Imports of “drawn glass and blown glass, in sheets” totaled 548 tons worth $295,000, according to a Statistics Georgia report Aug. 27.
