The production of glass and glass products in Hungary in the first half of this year was 18.1 percent higher than in the same period in 2007. Glass and glass products manufacturers’ sales in the January to June period were 15.3 percent higher year-on-year, with an increase in sales of 11.2 percent on the domestic Hungarian market and 17.8 percent higher sales on export markets, according to a report from Hungary’s Central Statistical Office Aug. 15.

  
Ukraine exported glass and glass products worth $78.1 million in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 32.8 percent. Glass and glass products accounted for 0.2 percent of total Ukrainian exports during the period. Ukrainian imports of the same types of commodities in the January to June period were 42.4 percent higher year-on-year at $201 million. Glass and glass products accounted for 0.5 percent of total Ukrainian imports, according to a report from Ukraine’s State Statistics Committee Aug. 19.
