In 2011, Chinese low-emissivity glass output reached 87 million square meters, up 38 percent from the previous year, and demand for the product reached 92.7 million square meters, according to the Global and Chinese Low-E Glass Industry Report, 2011-2012, from Research and Markets.

Low-E glass output is expected to markedly increase, with the completion of many new production lines. Demand for the product is also expected to see continued gains, driven in part by policy support, including China's "Twelfth Five-year Building Energy-saving Plan," released in May, according to the report.
