Nippon Sheet Glass to expand 'green' glass capacity In China

Nippon Sheet Glass Co. said Tuesday [Aug. 17] that it will boost its production capacity for energy-saving glass in China in response to growing local demand for the product.

The company plans to invest roughly 4.5 billion yen at a joint venture in Tianjin to install equipment that sheathes ordinary window glass with an energy-efficient coating. The investment will also cover the addition of a second production line for building-use glass at the facility. These upgrades are scheduled to be completed by March 2012, according to an Aug. 17 Nikkei.com report.
