PGC International announces February Webinar
COMMERCIAL, RETAIL, FABRICATION
The Protective Glazing Council International, Topeka, Kan., will host its second Webinar in the 2010 monthly Webinar series at noon, Feb. 26. The hour-long Webinars, created primarily for architects, building owners, specifiers, glazing contractors and others in the architectural community, are free and focus on various industry topics, according to a Feb. 3 release.
John Bush, industry expert formerly of Oldcastle Glass, Santa Monica, Calif., will present the next Webinar. His presentation will focus on the glass side of ballistics resistance and forced entry mitigation, a growing segment in the protective glazing industry. As a longtime veteran in the industry, Bush also will be able to highlight emerging technologies and trends in this segment, offering potential new solutions to architects and building owners looking to use newer methods to achieve a balance of aesthetics with protection.
Bush attended the University of Cambridge and earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering. He later earned an MBA from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He started working in glass fabrication more than 20 years ago, and was the first person to successfully laminate glass polycarbonates in the U.K. for architectural applications, according to the release. Those security products became widely adopted in both architectural and transportation applications in the U.K. When Hurricane Andrew devastated south Florida in 2002, Bush relocated to south Florida to set up a new laminating facility to produce hurricane glass for the newly emerging building codes. For the last seven years Bush was the director of laminated products at Oldcastle Glass, where he provided strategic direction and support to 16 plants producing laminated glass.
