Pilkington's Basildon factory closes

A factory in Essex, U.K., owned by Pilkington has closed, resulting in the loss of 30 jobs. Company officials said alternative employment was being sought at its other sites in the United Kingdom for workers at the Paycocke Road factory in Basildon. They said a new facility producing glass for solar energy manufacturers would create 130 jobs in the St. Helens area, according to a March 31 BBC report.
