PPG provides ‘green’ glass, coatings for World Expo pavilions, Shanghai roads
PPG Industries, Pittsburgh, has supplied “green” products in support of World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, including low-emissivity glass and low-volatile organic compound coatings for expo pavilions as well as waterborne paints to protect more than 1 million square meters of elevated roads near the event, according to a May 20 release.
The U.S. pavilion features Solarban(R) 70XL glass from PPG, the world’s first triple-silver-coated, solar control low-E glass. Solarban 70XL glass transmits 64 percent of the sun’s natural light while blocking 73 percent of its solar energy, making it 20 percent more energy-efficient than competitive products. The glass helps to save energy, cut costs and reduce the cooling equipment requirements for buildings where it is installed.
