Taiwan Glass to set up sodium carbonate plant in mainland China

Taiwan Glass Industry Co., the listed subsidiary of Taiwan Glass Group, plans to set up a sodium carbonate plant in Huaian, Jiangsu Province, to tap into the glass upstream materials business.

The new plant, with a total investment of $485 million, is jointly funded by Taiwan Glass, venture capital firms and other shareholders. Taiwan Glass holds a 30 percent stake in the JV, according to a Sept. 21 China Knowledge report.
