Changes coming in DOE Volume Purchase Program
Following a stakeholder strategy session in February, the Department of Energy is making a number of changes to its High Performance Windows Volume Purchase Program, according to the DOE Building Envelope and Windows R&D Program Blog.
Among the changes is a new requirement for participating vendors to report total R-5 sales from all sources. Previously, vendors could opt to report only sales from the program website. Vendor participants must also report more than zero sales of R-5 windows in order to remain in the program.
Eliminated from the program is a 20-window minimum purchase requirement. Additionally, pricing information will no longer be included on the website.
Organizers also note that Phase II of the program, originally scheduled to run from May 2011 to April 2012, will be extended until the end of the year. New vendors, including vendors that only participated in Phase I, that meet specifications will also be allowed to join the program.
