The board of directors at Guardian Industries appointed Scott Thomsen to president of the Guardian Flat Glass Group, effective Sept. 1, 2011, according to an April 18 release. Last week, after Congress repealed the 1099 reporting requirement included in last year’s health care law, President Obama signed the legislation into law April 14. Consequently, beginning in 2012, businesses will no longer be required to issue 1099 forms to vendors from whom they buy more than $600 worth of goods or services in any year.Read the White House release.

Russ Ebeid, Glass Group president, Guardian Industries Corp., Auburn Hills, Mich., will retire effective this September, confirmed Earnest Thompson, director of corporate marketing and brand management, for the company.
