Enhanced laminated glass

PPG Industries, Pittsburgh, and Saflex, a unit of Solutia Inc., St. Louis, have teamed up to create Enhanced Technology Glass.  Instead of using standard PVB, ETG incorporates the Saflex K high security interlayer laminated under heat and pressure between two sheets of PPG's glass.  The resulting glazing system is stronger and more resistant to tearing and penetration than standard laminated glazing, according to company representatives.  ETG will be featured on General Motors' 2008 full-size passenger vans, according to a release.
