Guardian Industries, Auburn Hills, Mich., showed a SunGuard Building Integrated Photovoltaic display at the 2009 AIA Convention. The display, fabricated in cooperation with JE Berkowitz LP, Pedricktown, N.J., and Eureka Metal & Glass Services, Philadelphia, consists of a 4 millimeter cover plate, a PV interlayer, a 6 millimeter copper-indium-sulfide photovoltaic module, a ½-inch airspace and a 6 millimeter inboard glass lite. The standard size Guardian module is 26 inches by 50 inches. Up to four modules can be laminated together to create a maximum size unit of 50 inches by 104 inches. Typical applications include skylights, spandrel, vision glass, curtain wall and other building materials.
