CAD/CAM router software
Officials from CNC Software Inc., Tolland, Conn., announced two developments regarding its Mastercam CAD/CAM software. The company introduced Feature Based Machining, and made TrueShape Nesting and Engraving standard features of Router X3 software used for a variety of flat-panel applications, including glass.
Feature Based Machining automates the machining process. It automatically evaluates a solid part and programs pockets, contours, bosses, and drilling routines with minimal user input, according to a company release.
TrueShape Nesting optimizes material use for greatest yields. Users can efficiently nest interlocking parts with options such as custom sheet definition, “filler” part nesting to reduce waste, and full control over part spacing and sheet margins.
Router X3 Engraving gives the effect of classic hand-carved art using the computer numerically controlled, or CNC, machine, and offers options such as standard chiseling, embossed images, engraving any TrueType font, and engrave remachining that allows cutting an area with a large tool with automatic removal of remaining material with a smaller tool.
