Energy efficient and self-cleaning glass

PPG Industries will promote its Sungate 600 passive, low-E glass that helps buildings maintain energy efficiency and comfortable interior temperatures year-round in various climates and applications. Designed as a versatile, utilitarian low-E glass, Sungate 600 can enhance both the low-heat-gain performance of solar control, low-E glasses in cooling-dominated climates and the heat-trapping capability of passive, low-E glasses in heating-dominated climates, according to company officials.
In addition, the exhibitor will display its Sunclean self-cleaning glass, a low-maintenance product designed to eliminate the need for manual washing of conventional commercial windows and curtain walls, as well as skylights, canopies and other sloped or hard-to-reach glazings. Sunclean glass features a proprietary titanium dioxide coating that causes water to sheet rather than bead like conventional clear glass. When it rains, this sheeting action―together with the photocatalytic properties of the coating― breaks down dirt and organic materials, leaving a spot- and streak-free surface, according to the exhibitor.
