Select Hinges, Portage, Mich., will showcase its geared continuous hinges, now made from up to 100 percent recycled aluminum. In independent testing, the hinges endured more than 25,000,000 cycles — 10 times beyond BHMA (Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association) Grade 1 cycle count and equal to 50-plus years of high-traffic use, according to the exhibitor. The Continuous Warranty covers any failure of Select geared continuous hinges with no expiration date. Also on display will be the new Select Tipit anti-ligature hospital tip. Retrofitting existing doors with Tipit and a Select full surface geared continuous hinge saves the door and frame, the company reports. Tipit works with most other brands of full surface hinges.
