Mesh IGU

Developed for exterior glazing applications, the Ombra insulating glass unit from Pulp Studio incorporates an architectural wire mesh core that works as a solar shading device. Surrounded by tempered glass, the metal mesh offers both visual privacy and visible light transmittance of up to 50 percent. In addition, Ombra is able to achieve a solar heat gain coefficient superior to that of other IG units without the need for tinted, reflective or specialty glass, according to the company. The glass appears transparent when viewed straight on, but obscures the line of sight when viewed from an angle. This allows more light to enter the building in the morning and late afternoon when the sun is lower, and provides the most shading during midday. Ombra is available in five patterns and is suitable for storefront, office building, airport and other commercial applications.
