The systems use ultrasound-air-bearing technology, and can be applied in any atmospheric process. The ultrasound-air-bearing generates a supporting gas-film (air or process-gas) between its surface and the substrate. Thus, any mechanical contact to sensible surfaces or coatings can be avoided. The substrate is hovering on or below the supporting gas film. For top-side-handling the repelling ultrasound forces are used in combination with attracting low-pressure forces. This technique enables an easy-to-use non-contact handling of flat glass, very much like the familiar top-side-gripping of flat glass. Applications include loading and unloading of glass/coated glass, loading and unloading of cleaned glass substrates and handling and aligning without any surface damages.Zimmermann & Schilp Handling GmbH, Germany
