Optimization and communication

ShapeOpt
Albat +Wirsam Software AG of Germany, subsidiary of Finland’s Glaston Corp. with North American headquarters in Kirkland, Wash., launched ShapeOpt custom shape optimization, and Panorama and AWFactory machinery communication software.
Using ShapeOpt, glass shapes can be nested automatically and optimized. The software factors in optimization-relevant restrictions, such as sequence and size. Auxiliary cuts enable easier break out of multiple models per sheet. The software can supplement optimization modules XOPT and XOPT-S, Version 10.0, with no additional installation. It is completely integrated into all Albat +Wirsam Product Planning System modules and operates with all standard cutting tables, according to a company release.
Panorama software provides monitoring of glass processing machinery during operation, and allows for rapid intervention and control by the operators. It can portray highly complex production operations in real time, delivering a detailed visualization of the machine and current operational situation. At the moment that the glass passes a pre-defined point along the line, the information or the user’s directive gets relayed automatically. At the push of a button or click of a mouse, single sheets can be merged in or even entire streams of material held back, directed or re-directed. These points can be set up all along the line, from the cutting area to packing and shipping. Users can create virtual configurations and initiate production processes. AWFactory helps the user create an entire factory simulation, providing a visual rendering of the factory’s machinery configuration and process sequence.
