Structural glazing spacer tapes

Saint-Gobain announced it completed a life cycle assessment for itsarchitectural foam structural glazing spacer tapes—the Norton Thermalbond and Thermalbond Xpress. Both tapes help to reduce heat transfer in curtain-wall and window systems, according to company officials. The LCA, facilitated by Sustainable Solutions Corp., was conducted according to ISO 14040 and 14044 to measure the environmental impact of Thermalbond, and included the evaluation of raw material extraction and processing, material shipping, manufacturing, packaging, and disposal. Four Elements, LLC, reviewed the LCA to ensure compliance with ISO standards. The completion of the Thermalbond LCA marks the culmination of a two-year initiative at the company’s ranville, N.Y., manufacturing facility to reduce the overall life cycle impacts of all the products produced.
