Sun shading estimator tool

Kawneer Co. introduced its Solector Sun Shading Estimator tool. Developed for architects to use early in the design phase, the easy-to-use tool helps determine how blade angles, size and orientation affect the shading performance of sunshades, according to a company release. The Solector Sun Shading Estimator can compare the annual shading performance of two scenarios using Versoleil Single Blade SunShades on a façade. In addition to calculating the shading performance, Solector Sun Shading Estimator also provides an estimate of cooling energy and cost savings on an annual basis, using broad assumptions. Energy savings are calculated based on solar heat gain that is avoided due to exterior shading of the façade.
