Cup-wheel seamer

Benteler Maschinenbau GmbH will introduce its Horizontal Portal Cup-Wheel Seamer that uses diamond cup-wheels instead of belts. This design lengthens tool life, keeps edges square and stands up to broken glass, according to the exhibitor. The machine’s short length reduces cycle times for width changes, and the width adjustment speed is 60 meters per minute. The seamer handles glass from 3 millimeters to 8 mm thick at grinding speeds of 22 meters per minute, and offers automatic thickness adjustment. Benteler’s grinding spindles are maintenance free, and automatic lubrication reduces maintenance costs, the exhibitor reports. The water extraction system produces nearly dry glass after seaming, preserving coatings and protecting in-line washers. Booth 1719.
