Saint-Gobain and Swisspacer Products Used for Commercial Tiny Houses

TechTinyHouse was founded in 2015 by Brendan Thome, CEO of TechTinyHouse, and his wife, with the goal of developing a tiny house that is mobile but also meets the technical, structural and energy standards of a permanent building. The project began as a personal construction effort and developed into a company.

"To this day, most tiny houses are built more like caravans than buildings in terms of quality. Even back then, our aim was to do things differently," says Thome.

TechTinyHouse's tiny houses are used in a range of contexts: public sector clients use them as showrooms, presentation rooms or temporary meeting spaces, including at universities. Commercial customers use them for rentals, trade fair appearances or mobile brand spaces. Private buyers use them as living space.

TechTinyHouse selects components based on technical and functional performance, particularly for glazing, which is subject to added stress due to mobile use.

Swisspacer warm edge spacer bars are used for thermal performance, durability and energy efficiency. Different glass structures and coatings are used depending on project priorities such as weight reduction, thermal insulation or colour neutrality. TechTinyHouse plans to take over window construction itself in the future and source insulating glass units from the Saint-Gobain Glassolutions Insulating Glass Centre in Augustdorf, using Swisspacer components.

"We have customers who drive our tiny houses to the sea in summer and to the mountains in winter. Transporting them across different altitudes poses a risk in terms of pressure equalisation. With Swisspacer Air, we have found a way to address that," says Thome.
