Unicel Architectural Corp. announced it is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Unicel history
Unicel Architectural got its start in 1964 when founder Fernand Roy opened the company’s first shop in St-Leonard, Quebec, Canada.
“Vincent and I have always been strong believers in Unicel Architectural, and we’re proud to lead a company with such a rich history and strong lineup of products, including our timber curtain wall and Vision Control specialty glazing,” says Unicel Architectural Co-President Samuel Doyon-Bissonnette.
In the 1990s, Unicel Architectural’s North America-wide business began to take off. That’s when the company expanded its U.S. customer base to accommodate several landmark projects, including multiple U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation offices, Miami’s Cedar-Sinai Hospital, Ohio State University and the Children’s Medical Center Dallas.
Expansion into East Asia and Scandinavia in the 2000s and Latin America and the Gulf Cooperation Council regions followed in the 2010s. Today, the company primarily works on large institutional projects in the U.S. and Canada, but also performs commercial work.
Unicel today
“The demand for sustainable, elegant and highly customized building and glazing products and thermally efficient technologies has only grown in the past several years, and we believe it will continue to grow,” adds Vincent Couturier, who along with Samuel acquired IC2 Technologies in 2018 and completed a successful management buyout in 2020. “The designers and architects we work with value Unicel Architectural as a vendor able to work on challenging and complex projects other companies shy away from.”
The company’s current facility resides in Longueuil, Quebec, and it recently announced two new product additions as part of the Vision Control line of products: hurricane-certified systems and motion sensor operators .
