decorative

GAMCO Corporation’s curtain wall, storefront, and commercial doors and windows are key features of a new Rockland County office building. Located at 10 Executive Boulevard in Montebello, New York, the Montebello Gateway building used almost 16,000 square feet of GAMCO curtain wall framing along with framing for 36 windows and 12 commercial entrance doors. The newly completed Montebello Gateway with its all around glass façade is a 54,000 square feet, 3-story property with semi-basement.

What GAMCO leadership says

“GAMCO’s curtain wall system, together with our seamless fenestration solutions, creates a modern and cohesive architectural statement that defines the property’s contemporary elegance,” says Melora Chang, Vice President. “GAMCO fenestration products provide not only dramatic visual appeal, but also offer performance, functionality, durability, and value.  Everything an architect, owner, or discerning business renter would want in an office property.”

Project details

A key feature of Montebello Gateway project is the 15,890 square feet of site-assembled curtain wall framing GAMCO supplied. The GAMCO Series CW-250 curtain wall used on the project offers strength, endurance, and visual aesthetics. Available in several framing sizes, this project called for two versions, one with 5-½-inch back member frame depth and the other with 3-⅞-inch back member frame depth.  Both versions have 2-½-inch sightlines.

Two 46 foot tall glass curtain wall sections at the centers of the north and south facades mark the main entrances to the new building. Each main entrance features two pairs of GAMCO Series D350 medium-stile commercial doors, for a total of eight doors. The D350 has 3-½-inch top and vertical rails and for this project includes an optional 10-inch bottom rail. Four other minor building entrances used single GAMCO Series D200 narrow-stile commercial doors with 2-½-inch top and vertical rails and the optional 10-inch bottom rails. All the doors were supplied with custom hardware, continuous hinges, 12-inch single offset C-pull handles, interior panic bar openers, and exterior key lock cylinders.

GAMCO supplied its 1-¾-inch by 4-½-inch Series FG450 and its 2-inch by 4-½-inch FG451 storefront framing surrounding all the building doors. The framing included ½-inch high low-sill aluminum mill saddles.

The building’s basement floor that is partially above grade was specified with 36 GAMCO W250C commercial fixed and hopper style windows combined horizontally in several ribbon sections. The W250C is a thermally broken window with 2-½-inch frame depth, corner keyed mitered joints, and a 1-inch glazing pocket. The project-in hopper windows feature 4-bar hinges. The fixed and hopper windows are structurally rated CW-30 and CW-50, respectively.

All the GAMCO curtain wall, storefront, door, and window fenestration products received a dark bronze anodized finish.

Project team and other information

GAMCO collaborated with the fenestration installer on glazing specifications and provided detailed glass sizing information. The installer then sourced and glazed onsite the insulated glass units (IGUs) and monolithic glass for the project’s curtain wall, storefront, doors, and windows. The curtain wall utilized dual pane IGUs with Guardian Sunguard SNR50 tempered glass and Pilkington Energy Advantage low-E tempered glass.

The developer and general contractor for Montebello Gateway was Trodale Developers of Suffern, New York.  The architect was AB Design of Spring Valley, New York, with luxury interior design by YossiG of Brooklyn, New York. Fenestration installation and glazing for the project was handled by GAMCO customer EZ Glass & Mirror of Monsey, New York.

In Rockland County, west of the Hudson River and just north of New Jersey, the Montebello Gateway building is situated off main thoroughfare Airmont Road. Near the New York State Thruway and I-287, the building is minutes away from the Mario Cuomo / Tappan Zee Bridge and New York City. With its location and a 200-space parking lot surrounding the building, the Montebello Gateway facility will be predominately used for medical offices.
