Total Security Solutions Unveils Three New Products at GlassBuild

Total Security Solutions (TSS) will debut three new products at GlassBuild America designed to meet evolving physical security threats from both forced entry and bullets, particularly in school environments.

Three new products

The first new product is the TSS Active Shooter Window System is designed to meet the latest standards while preserving aesthetics, natural light and transparency. The system is designed, built and installed as a full assembly. It’s independently tested to meet industry standards for forced entry and bullet resistance, including:

  • ASTM F3561-23 Forced Entry Resistance of Fenestration Systems After Simulated Active Shooter Attack (Level 8)
  • ASTM F1233-21 Standard Test Method for Security Glazing Materials and Systems (Class 2.0 - Body)
  • UL 752 Standard for Bullet-Resisting Equipment (Level 3)

This is ideal for main entrances or high-traffic areas.

The second new product, for lower-risk areas, is SchoolDefender Glass, a performance pane of glass-clad polycarbonate that is designed to offer forced entry protection in situations where replacing existing glass is desired. This protective pane can be used as is for interior installations or incorporated into an insulated makeup for exterior window use. The glass is tested to ASTM 1233-21, Standard Test Method for Security Glazing Materials Class 2.0 - Body Passage, meaning it can withstand multiple attack sequences, including repeated ball-peen hammer strikes, sledgehammer and ripping bar strikes, and heat from a torch. It is not tested to standards for bullet resistance.

“Schools don’t need another stand-alone product; they need an integrated system,” says TSS Chief Marketing Officer Paul La Vigne. “When you pair our TSS Active Shooter Window System at the main entry with SchoolDefender Glass in adjacent zones, you create time and distance, channel traffic through controlled points, and preserve visibility. This approach is how you deter, delay, and keep people safe during a crisis.”

The third new product for TSS, is ORNILUX bird-friendly glazing. It’s estimated that as many as one billion birds die each year from flying into building’s glass they are unable to see, according to the American Bird Conservancy. Bird-safe glass is treated with a printed pattern not visible to people but breaks up reflections in glass, making it recognizable to birds as a solid object.
