Bendheim GripGlaze Canopy Clip Used for Health Center Glass Canopy

Bendheim’s GripGlaze Canopy Clip was used to create a custom glass canopy at the new Clifton Health & Wellness Center for Hackensack Meridian Health, an ambulatory care facility located within the ON3 campus in Clifton, New Jersey. The 80,000-square-foot project features Bendheim’s new clip system, which secures approximately 1,000 square feet of laminated glass.

The 26 custom glass panels range in size from 60 inches by 60 inches to 60 inches by 140 inches. The system was engineered to meet demanding structural requirements while maintaining a minimal, visually light profile that supports the facility’s emphasis on openness and accessibility.

Bendheim joined the project during the early design phase, working from preliminary architectural drawings to help refine the canopy’s structural approach. Through close coordination with the architect, glazing contractor and steel fabricator, the team transitioned from a more steel-intensive concept to a streamlined solution that reduced material usage and simplified installation.

“Early in the process, we saw an opportunity to simplify the structural approach and make the canopy more efficient without sacrificing the design intent,” says Derya Celenoglu, project manager at Bendheim. “By collaborating closely with the project team, we helped develop a solution that reduced steel requirements, improved constructability and maintained a clean aesthetic.”

The GripGlaze Canopy System utilizes a mechanically fastened, dry-glazed connection that eliminates the need for drilling through glass. Its adjustable design enables accurate positioning of large glass panels throughout the canopy.

The resulting canopy provides weather protection for patients and visitors while preserving daylight and visibility at the entrance. Its minimal visual impact allows the glass to remain the dominant visual element.
