Fire-rated Glazing Assemblies Used in University Residence Halls

decorative

Texas Christian University’s newest residence halls: Hill Hall and Walsh Hall use floor-to-ceiling fire-rated glazing assemblies and full-fire-rated doors to create study nooks along corridors. These products are courtesy of Technical Glass Products.

Completed with narrow-profile frames and transparent glass, the study nooks allow the deep penetration of daylight from exterior windows and curtain walls. They also support a visually connected interior that maintains respectful noise levels throughout. While creating an interior that fosters connection and community drove specification, student safety was also a goal. In addition to fire and life safety, the study nooks’ transparent design reduces places where students can be isolated and so contributes to a more safely designed campus.
