Jamison Door Company and BMP Group broke ground Sept. 25, 2026, on a new 355,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Hagerstown, Maryland, marking the first phase of the planned 58-acre North American manufacturing campus.

New facility details

The $35 million to $50 million production center will expand Jamison and BMP's U.S. manufacturing capabilities and increase capacity to serve customers across North America. Designed and constructed by ARCO Design/Build, the facility will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, research and development, and product testing to support continued growth across the group's portfolio of brands.

Headquartered in Italy, BMP Group selected Washington County for the new campus because of the region's manufacturing infrastructure, business resources, and the group's longstanding connection to the community through Jamison, which has manufactured doors in Hagerstown since 1906.

"Jamison's current plant holds 120 years of American manufacturing history," says Danilo Benotto, CEO and chairman of BMP Group. "This new facility represents the next generation of that history — a state-of-the-art home that will inherit everything Jamison has learned over more than a century and combine it with the technology, capabilities, and collective knowledge of BMP."

State and local officials, manufacturing industry leaders and community partners joined BMP and Jamison team members for the groundbreaking ceremony. Speakers included Sen. Guy Guzzone, chair of the Maryland Senate Budget and Taxation Committee; Stephen Rice, deputy secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce Division of Business Growth and Attraction; Washington County Commissioner, John F. Barr; Greg Snook of the Hagerstown-Washington County Industrial Foundation (CHIEF); Andrew Serafini of the George C. Edwards Fund; and Stef Webb, managing vice president of government relations for the National Association of Manufacturers.

"The State of Maryland is pleased and grateful for this extraordinary investment," says Senator Guzzone. "From the beginning, our state government and legislature recognized the tremendous opportunity this project represents and worked to identify programs and resources that could support and strengthen the BMP Group and Jamison's investment."

The project has received significant state and local support, including a $2 million grant through the Senator George C. Edwards Fund and an additional $2 million grant from Washington County. The Maryland Department of Commerce and CHIEF have also supported the project, which is being developed at CHIEF's Mount Aetna Technology Park.

"This new advanced manufacturing facility will bring product lines together in a one-stop shop, expand production capabilities, and support up to 250 employees," says Webb. "It is a powerful example of what manufacturers can do when they have the certainty to plan, invest, hire, and grow."

Construction of the first phase is expected to conclude in the first quarter of 2028, with manufacturing operations beginning shortly thereafter. The facility will incorporate North American brands and bring new production lines from Europe, including Salco Industrial Doors, Champion Door, and Campisa dock levelers. Planning is already underway for a second phase of the 58-acre campus, supporting BMP's continued manufacturing growth in North America.
