Kolbe Windows & Doors is celebrating the opening of its new multifamily, workforce housing development – Evergreen Landing Apartments on 8th. The four-building, three-story, 44,000-square-foot residential complex brings 102 new rental units to Wausau, Wisconsin.

Kolbe hosted a grand opening event on May 20 with public tours of the apartments and its community center. The event also included a ribbon cutting with members of the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, city officials, local business leaders, and project team members from across Wisconsin.

Along with the open house celebrating the grand opening, Kolbe Windows & Doors continues celebrating its 80th anniversary with its year-long “80 Acts of Kindness” initiative and ongoing events.

Built for convenience and affordability

Evergreen Landing Apartments on 8th is near Kolbe’s main manufacturing facility and is close to childcare, public parks and transit, and other community amenities. The property’s name and tree-shaped logo honor the area’s timber-rich heritage.

“We’re proud the development provides an affordable, high-quality living option for individuals and families within our community, including for current and future team members at Kolbe,” says Mike Tomsyck, Kolbe Windows & Doors’ vice president of transportation and risk management, who oversaw the project’s development.

More than 170 bedrooms are housed in the development. Rents, which include heat and internet, start at $975 for a one-bedroom, $1,410 for a two-bedroom and $1,850 for a three-bedroom unit.

Made in Wisconsin

Built on land owned by Kolbe, no public money funded the development or construction of Evergreen Landing Apartments on 8th.

“This is an investment in our community and our future,” says Kolbe Windows & Doors’ president, Jeffrey DeLonay. “We appreciate the encouragement we’ve received from the City of Wausau and the support we’ve received from everyone involved in the project’s development.”

Nearly all of the companies providing materials and services to this project are based in Wisconsin. These include architectural designer Arc Central, design consultant Lokre Development, civil engineer Point of Beginning and general contractor Stehr Construction Management. Property manager, Bantr Living, plans to be on site after the development is fully occupied.

The buildings’ large glass entryways feature Kolbe’s VistaLuxe AL LINE of products. In the individual apartments, Kolbe’s high-performance Forgent Series windows add spaciousness to the compact layout of each apartment.
