Miter Brands Expands Triton Advanced Glass Systems with Triton Advanced Impact Glass for PGT WinGuard Vinyl Products

Miter Brands has announced the expansion of its Triton Advanced Glass Systems portfolio, adding Triton Advanced Impact Glass to the full line of PGT Windows and Doors WinGuard Vinyl products. Triton Advanced Impact, which features Corning Enlighten Glass, is designed to provide impact protection comparable to traditional impact windows while reducing weight, which the company says improves ease of operation and installation. The product also offers noise reduction and improved clarity and durability, according to the company.

"The PGT team is excited to offer our WinGuard Vinyl products with Triton Advanced Impact Glass," says Steven Starkey, vice president of sales, Miter Brands-South. "This glass technology delivers the storm protection of traditional impact windows and doors in a lighter package, which we believe expands what's possible for impact-rated construction and replacement projects, particularly in Florida and other coastal regions."

Triton Advanced Impact Glass uses Miter Brands' proprietary Triton Glass Sandwich, which bonds thin Corning Enlighten Glass to a flexible interlayer, creating a single lightweight pane of glass. The company says the interlayer also helps reduce outside noise.

The laminated insulating glass units include the H.B. Fuller 4SG Fusion Bonded Spacer, which the company says creates an air barrier that reduces heat transfer and limits moisture penetration to reduce fogging. Combined with the vinyl frames' thermal properties, these components are intended to improve strength and energy performance.

Triton Advanced Impact is designed to meet Miami-Dade testing standards for hurricane protection and is up to 40% lighter than traditional impact windows, according to the company, which it says can make installation easier. The reduced weight is also intended to lower labor requirements for replacement and remodeling projects that upgrade homes, multifamily buildings, and commercial properties to impact-rated windows and doors.

According to Miter Brands, PGT WinGuard Vinyl products with Triton Advanced Impact glass offer improved energy performance, reduced outside noise, three times greater indoor scratch resistance compared to standard glass, and reduced visual distortion.
