Winco Window Company Introduces Enhanced Window Receptor System
Winco Window Company has redesigned its window receptor system to be more job-site friendly. The new system is designed to streamline window installation and ease the burden on installers to find space, time, and labor to put together the window receptor system on site before installation.
The window receptor system is made of an extruded aluminum base unit designed to minimize field work—no drilling, cutting, or mitering of corners. It can close off large wall cavities without deeper window frames, eliminating the hassle of end dams and reducing the amount of sealant required.
Case study
The new receptor system has been used at the Sarah Roberts Elementary School in Boston. The installers were working in a densely packed city environment, and the new receptor system eliminated the need to find space to lay out tools and assemble parts for installation. With the Winco newly designed receptor system, much of the preassembly work was done at the factory before it was shipped to the job site, saving space, labor, and time for onsite work.
“It's unusual for a manufacturer to listen to your field installation needs,” says Dante Birch, project manager at Kapiloff’s Glass. "It's practically unbelievable to have them come back with an improved, redesigned product that considers those needs and observations. Winco has done just this.”
“With the new receptor system, we are dramatically improving our productivity in the field. This directly correlates to us being more competitive in our market, be it reducing field errors during field fabrication, reducing time in assembly, or the organization of onsite materials (getting the right part to the right place at the right time). We’re performing more work in less time. And, since our infrastructure projects are funded with public dollars, these savings flow through the project to taxpayers as well.”
“There was a time when the major costs of a construction project were the materials; in our present era, labor is a significant portion of our costs. Looking at labor efficiency in our installation results in real and meaningful cost benefits for all parties involved. Our installers are raving about this system,” says Birch.
“The design of most window receptor systems has been the same for more than 30 years, and it is generally a multi-step process to install windows on site,” says Kurtis Suellentrop, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Winco. “We think the market will quickly adopt this innovative solution.”
