FGIA Industry Review and Forecast Finds Decreased Demand for Commercial Windows, Doors

This report delivers information on window, door and skylight market trends and product relationships. Historic data for 2012 through 2020 and forecast data for 2021 through 2023 are also included in the report. Forecasts are based on projections of construction activity as of March 2021.

Commercial Windows

The nonresidential glazing market decreased by 11 percent in 2020, with decreases across all applications, according to the report. New construction shrank by 11 percent, while renovation demand decreased by 12 percent. A decline is forecast for 2021, with a rebound in 2022 and 2023.


Commercial Doors

In 2020, nonresidential construction demand for entry doors shrank by 10.5 percent. Looking forward, a continued decline in 2021 is likely followed by a recovery in 2022 by 2.6 percent. After 2022, an additional slight recovery of 0.3 percent is expected.
