NSG Group announced that the birthplace of its North American business in Rossford, Ohio, has been celebrating its 125th anniversary throughout late July.

The history

The community itself was founded by glass pioneer Edward Ford, who named the city Rossford by combining his last name with that of his wife, Caroline Ross, thus Rossford. From its beginnings in 1898 when Edward Ford created a new company town focused on glass making to today, Rossford has been known as a community that families and businesses have proudly called home, according to a company release.

How it was celebrated

A host of events took place for the culmination of the 2023 celebration of Rossford’s 125th Anniversary, which NSG Group sponsored. The afternoon of July 28, featured tours of the Rossford plant. That night was the official grand opening at the Rossford High School. Events on July 29 included the 125th Anniversary Parade in the morning and concluded with a special 125th Anniversary Riverfest Celebration that evening.

What people say

"Being part of 125 years of Rossford history is humbling. We have met many retirees throughout the anniversary celebrations and with each discussion, there is a tremendous amount of pride and passion. We appreciate knowing we are here because of the hard work of those that have come before us. What an amazing history that we get to be a part of," says David Imbrogno, Rossford plant manager.

“The story of the city of Rossford and our company have been intertwined for 125 years and we were happy to celebrate that history with the community and our past and present employees. It is a fabulous story about Edward Ford’s vision to build a glass plant in 1898 on 173 acres of land on the banks of the Maumee River and that the plant is still thriving 125 years later. It is also incredible to think the glass produced in Rossford is now used in automotive and architectural applications in every corner of the world," says Stephen Weidner, head of Architectural Glass North America and Solar.
