Saint-Gobain Signs Major Renewable Electricity Supply Contract

Saint-Gobain signed a renewable electricity purchase contract (Power Purchase Agreement or PPA) for a period of 15 years with TotalEnergies. This will provide the solar energy for its 125 industrial sites in North America.

This 100 megawatt PPA, also named Danish Fields Solar Project, should reduce CO2 emissions linked to electricity (scope 2 emissions) by Saint-Gobain in North America at a rate of 90,000 tons per year.

What Saint-Gobain says

“Thanks to this contract, Saint-Gobain North America will continue to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions, demonstrating the speed with which the industrial sector can transform when long-term solutions are available within reach. This renewable energy project is essential to enable Saint-Gobain to achieve its commitment to reduce its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 33% by 2030 compared to 2017, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050,” says Mark Rayfield, CEO, Saint-Gobain North America.
